A new political front, without including the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), would emerge in Tamil Nadu, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary Vaiko said here on Wednesday.
Addressing a meeting of workers of MDMK’s allies – BJP, PMK and DMDK – apart from his party men at Tiruparankundram, which comes under Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency, Mr.Vaiko said though talks among the allies on seat sharing had reached the final stage, a formal announcement was expected to be made by BJP national president Rajnath Singh in Chennai on Thursday, following which the MDMK would announce its candidates.
Lashing out at both the AIADMK and the DMK for “letting down the people of Tamil Nadu,” he said a new era would begin with Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.
The people here were fed up with the false promises made by the AIADMK and the DMK. Time had come for these parties to take a back seat, he added. In the hands of the Congress, the country had met with disasters in many spheres that there was an urgent need to entrust it to responsible leaders like Mr.Modi, he said.
The UPA government had not only caused damage to the nation on the economic front, but also ditched the Tamils by its wrong foreign policies, especially with regard to Sri Lanka. The people would never forgive the Congress on this critical issue, he said and wanted the people to teach a fitting lesson to it through ballot.
Tracing a long history of important political events associated with Tiruparankundram, Mr.Vaiko said stalwarts like Kamarajar and Pasumpon Muthuramalingam had made a mark here.
ResponsibilityThe voters here had a great responsibility of choosing the right candidate, who was Mr.Modi. Like Gujarat, not only Tamil Nadu but the entire nation would flourish under Mr.Modi’s leadership, he said, and appealed to the voters to give him a chance to serve the people.
