Train timings

Train 56736 Shencottah-Madurai passenger train leaves Shencottah at 3.50 p.m. and reaches Virudhunagar at 6.05 p.m. This timing is convenient for those residing in and around Tenkasi, Kadayanallur, Sankarankoil, Rajapalayam, Srivilliputhur and Sivakasi to board trains to Tiruchi, Chennai, Salem, Bengaluru and Mysuru in Madurai. in the reverse direction, there is no problem for those coming from Tiruchi and Chennai in boarding the 56731 Madurai-Shencottah passenger. But for those from Mysuru, Bengaluru and Salem there is no connecting train to reach their destinations down south. The Shencottah passenger leaves Madurai junction at 7.15 a.m. whereas the 16236 Mysuru-Thoothukudi Express reaches by 7.20 a.m. The next available train is only at 11.25 a.m. We request the railway authorities to look into this problem.

Sambhandhun,

Sivakasi.

Post doctor

About 50 to 60 out-patients visit the Siddha medical wing in the Government Hospital, Paramakudi, daily

.

Since a permanent post of Siddha doctor remains vacant for the past nine months., one doctor from the district headquarters hospital, Ramanathapuram, is attending the patients once a week on deputation.

Due to the long absence of a permanent Siddha doctor, patients are experiencing much difficulty in getting due Siddha medical care and treatment at the government hospital, Paramakudi.

.Hence, I appeal to the health authorities to take immediate steps to fill up the vacancy at the earliest .

N. Sekaran,

Paramakudi.

Bad roads

The roads between Tiruppattur and Kandavaryanpatti, through T. Pudupattai and T. Pudur;

between Singampunari and Piranmalai, through Anaikkaraipatti and Kirungakkottai and

between S. V. Mangalam and Kalappur are in bad condition.

There are so many big potholes on these roads. Hence, I request the Highways authorities to take up repair work.

M. Sundararajan

Tiruppathur.

Additional train

Two sets of express trains between Rameswaram and Chennai are not enough to meet the growing demand of passengers. Thousands of pilgrims and tourists visit Rameswaram daily . A lot of passengers are wait-listed in each of the above trains. It is the need of the hour that the Southern Railway introduces one more train as express or superfast express. Similarly, passengers in the trains between Rameswaram and Madurai at many times travel on footsteps due to heavy rush. I appeal to the Railways to introduce inter-city expresses or Diesel Electro Mechanical Units (DEMU) between Rameswaram and Madurai.

Asmabagh Anvardeen,

Ramanathapuram.

Costly blood

Private organisations, after getting blood free of cost from donors, have been selling blood to needy patients at an exorbitant amount of ₹.1000. There is no justification in collecting a huge amount from patients after getting blood free of cost.

I request the authorities to fix a nominal amount to be collected by private blood banks.

G. Nagasamy,

Ramanathapuram.
