12th results do not decide your future, SP tells students

Standard 12 results are only a milestone in a person’s life and do not determine one’s future, said Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan at ‘Vetriyin Vazhikal’, a career guidance programme organised by the Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) and Temple City Network (TCN), here on Sunday.

Addressing parents and students who have completed their 12th standard this year, Mr Balakrishnan said, “Students should consider their interests while selecting a course.

They should also think about the future prospects it could offer and must select the right institution with the help of career guidance programmes”. He also asked students to develop self-confidence and self-motivation to excel in their courses. Besides engineering and medicine, students should also opt for humanities, he added.

Mr. Balakrishnan also advised teachers and parents to extend support and offer guidance to students who had scored average marks in the exams. Students and parents interacted with faculty members of various private colleges to know about the courses offered in their institutions.

V.S. Manimaran, president of MADITSSIA, delivered the welcome address. K.S. Serma Pandiyan, secretary, MADITSSIA, and D. Anbu of TCN were also present.
