A 100-member trade delegation comprising members of Young Entrepreneur School (YES) will tour the US from June 8 to June 24 to promote business ties between Tamil Nadu, specially southern districts, and the US.

In a press meet held in the city on Wednesday, S. Rethinavelu, chairman of Tamil Nadu Chamber Foundation, said the delegates would explore the possibilities of joint ventures between trade organisations in Tamil Nadu and the US. YES was a forum run by Tamil Nadu Chamber Foundation since 2004.

The delegation, named Bizcover America, would interact with industrialists and businessmen, visit business organisations and industries to learn business culture and take part in trade exhibitions and summits, said V. Neethi Mohan, chairman of YES.

The delegates would tour New York, Washington, Niagara, Orlando, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Fransisco.

They would interact with Saran Kanagaraj, CEO of HISBC, Jey Amalraj, executive director of JP Morgan’s Global Asset Management, visit Zappos.com, Levi’s Strauss and Co among others, Mr. Mohan told the reporters.

“We have planned a meeting with the members of the US-India Business Council for a discussion on the US-India bilateral business relationship,” he added.

Mr. Rethinavelu said the delegates would be a part of Infocomm 2014, one of the largest audio visual exhibitions in the world, which would be attended by around 3,500 traders from 110 countries.

“We are hoping for collaboration between the US and southern districts of Tamil Nadu in small and medium enterprises, in retail, food processing and garment industries,” Mr. Mohan said.

In 2007, members of YES had visited China and Hong Kong, in 2010 they had visited Sri Lanka and in 2012 they had visited Indonesia and Malaysia.
