100 liquor bottles seized

One held on the charge of smuggling liquor to Manjampatti

More than 100 IMFL liquor bottles were seized and one person was arrested on the charge of smuggling them to an interior village on upper Kodaikanal hill near here on Thursday.

The arrested was Murugan (47) of Manjampatti. However, his accomplice Surian (45) had managed to escape.

When the police intercepted two persons going on Polur village road on upper Kodaikanal with a bag, they found more than 100 bottles of liquor in it.

After preliminary investigation, the accused told the police that they purchased liquor in bulk quantity from TASMAC shop at Mannavanur check post and tried to smuggle them to Manjampatti village. Acting on a tip off, they also seized few liquor bottles hoarded in a grocery shop at Manjampatti. A case has been registered in this connection.
