Indo-Tibetan Border Police constables should live up to the nation’s expectations by upholding high tradition and professional standards, said Austine Eapen, Deputy Inspector General, ITBP, on Monday.
Addressing a passing out parade of constables at ITBP’s Recruits Training Centre at Iluppaikudi in Sivaganga district, Mr. Eapen recollected how the elite central armed police force, which was started in 1962, had grown up from four battalions to 60 battalions now. Apart from guarding the borders, it was also involved in anti-naxal operations and guarding sensitive installations. According to an ITBP press release, the DIG, who took salute at the parade, presented trophies to Ajay, Kuldeep, Dharamvir, Anand Kumar and Anand Prakash for excellence in various disciplines during the 24-week training. Ramesh Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commandant, welcomed the gathering and K. Solai Raj, Assistant Commandant, proposed a vote of thanks.
