A youth, who was arrested on Monday on charges of creating a fake profile of actor Anju Aravind in social networking site Facebook, was released on bail on Wednesday.

Aseem, 32, of Thiruvananthapuram was arrested by a team under Baiju Poulose, Circle Inspector and P.R. Santhosh, sub-inspector, Tripunithura police, after the actor complained about the fake profile. She had lodged a complaint with the City Police Commissioner, after some of her acquaintances got friend requests from the fake profile.

Acting on the complaint, the Cyber Cell tracked the mobile phone using which the accused used to upload images and made posts on Facebook.

Investigation showed that he resorted to this out of his fascination for the actor. He was charged under Sections 66 A and 66 B of the Information Technology Act, 2008, for electronically transmitting offensive messages and misuse of information.
