ViBGYOR film festival begins from Wednesday

The 11th edition of ViBGYOR short film and documentary festival will start at the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi, here from Wednesday.

The 11th edition of ViBGYOR short film and documentary festival will start at the Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Akademi, here from Wednesday.

Richa Singh, first woman President of Allahabad University Student Union, will inaugurate the festival. Mayor Ajitha Jayarajan will preside over the function.

The five day festival will be held in two venues , Regional theatre and Natyagraham, on the akademi campus.

‘Celebration of Cultural Diversity’ is the topic of this edition of the festival.

‘Many India’s Package’, which travels through the myriad cultures of various states in the country, is the main attraction of the festival. Other highlights include, North-east package, Cinema of Resistance from Gorakhpur, Marathi short films, N.I.D. Ahmadabad films and Films Division Package.

‘What the Fields Remember,’ a Bengali documentary by Subasri Krishnan, is the inaugural film. The film is about the Nellie massacre of Assam, which has been wiped out from the collective memory of the country.

More than 2000 Muslims were killed in the carnage.

Music video

A music video ‘You Can Destroy the Body’ by Anand Patwardhan and ‘That’s My Boy,’ a short film by Akhil Sathyan, are also in the inaugural package. Five films of Paromita Vohra from Mumbai has been included in the retrospective category.

A three-day digital film making workshop conducted by Nandan Saxena and Kavita Bahl, ‘Nattuchantha’- a market of organic products, conferences, ‘Meet the Director,’ and music night are also part of the festival.

Jayan Cherian’s ‘Ka-Bodyscapes’ will be the concluding film.
