VACB task termed more onerous

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KOCHI:

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday observed that the duty of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) was more onerous when they were investigating allegations against a sitting Minister.

The Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A.M. Shaffique, while closing a petition for a CBI probe into the charges of bribery against Finance Minister K.M. Mani, observed that the allegations were against a Minister. The investigation agency had to be more cautious and careful while investigating corruptions of persons occupying high office in the government because it was the duty of the law enforcement agency to unearth corruption in high offices and prove their credibility of carrying out investigation without fear or favour.
