The Kerala Motor Vehicle Department Gazetted Officers’ Association (KMVDGOA) is all set to observe the week-long road safety week from Sunday with gusto.

The association, along with the Motor Vehicle Department Technical Executive Officers’ Federation and the Kerala Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors’ Association, has decided to organise two colourful awareness rallies on road safety covering the entire State.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the rallies at C.M.S. College ground in Kottayam on Sunday at 11 p.m. in the presence of Transportation Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

The two rallies bound for Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod featuring street plays, film exhibition and pamphlet distribution will have stopovers at all district and taluk headquarters along the route before culminating in Ernakulam on January 17.

Members of the drama clubs of St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery, and Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, will be performing the street plays. The valedictory function will be inaugurated by Transport Commissioner R. Sreelekha.
