Three trainee officers of the Southern Naval Command here have set a national record for non-stop cycling.

Sub-Lieutenants Yogesh Tiwari, Rajanikant Yadav and Deepak Joseph rolled away non-stop on their bicycles doing a roundtrip from INS Venduruthy, the base station of the command, to INS Rajali at Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu, covering a total 1,423 km in 94 hours.

A press release said the expedition was flagged off by Captain O. Johnson, Director of the command’s Centre for Leadership and Behavioral Studies, on April 23. “The previous national record [in this category] is for a distance of 1,200 km covered in 76 hours and 10 minutes. The Limca Book of Records has been contacted for authentication of the record.”
