The Nedumbassery police on Saturday recorded the statement of Kerala Strikers’ team manager Edavela Babu regarding the incident in which members of the Celebrity Cricket League team were deplaned from a flight recently on allegations of unruly behaviour. The team maintained that they had been unfairly asked to leave the flight when they had only clapped and cheered before the flight took off.
The team had earlier registered a complaint with the police when 30 members of the team were asked to leave an IndiGo flight while they were on their way to Hyderabad for a match. The Nedumbassery police are investigating the issue.
Traffic warden arrestedA traffic warden was arrested here on Saturday on charge of obstructing a police officer during the course of his duty. Traffic warden Ummer Farooq allegedly disturbed a police officer who was on wireless duty at the Traffic West police station on Friday.
The traffic warden was at the station along with a group of other wardens who were protesting against the decision to change the colour of their uniform from khaki to blue.
Tobacco products seizedMore than 2,000 products of banned chewing tobacco were seized from various parts of Mattancherry here on Saturday. Prakash Das, 43, and Dalal, 73, were arrested for selling the banned substance. The police said in a communication that the men sold each packet for Rs.30 to Rs.40 to regular customers.
