Retrospective of Bharat Gopi films

A retrospective of eight Bharat Gopi films will be on at the five-day May Fest that begins here on May 17.

The films will include Yavanika, Kaattathe Kilikkoodu and Kodiyettam which will be screened at the Town Hall. Hindi film directors Mani Kaul and Anurag Kashyap, Tamil director Sasikumar, and top Malayalam film actors will speak at the show on different days.

May Fest, organised by the Traya cultural organisation, the Kochi Corporation and the Chalachitra Academy, is being conceived as a venue for highlighting the works of artists from the fields of cinema, theatre, sculpture, painting and music.

This year the focus is on film and the spotlight is on Bharat Gopi. After the screenings, there will be discussions featuring those who worked backstage on these films. The Touring Talkies of the Chalachitra Academy will put on show world classic at different venues in the city.
