The police recommended the suspension of driving licences of three autorickshaw drivers in the city following complaints that the drivers had demanded more money than was shown in the meter.

Following the police drive against autorickshaw drivers violating rules, three city residents had complained to the police regarding incidents of harassment in different parts of the city. Police officials took prompt action and registered cases against the erring autorickshaw drivers. They also submitted a report to the licensing authority recommending that their licences be revoked.

Senior police officials said the department would hold discussions with the Motor Vehicles Department to fix area limits for deciding autorickshaw fares, as demanded by autorickshaw drivers’ unions.
