No proof of graft against ADGP, says Vigilance

February 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KOCHI:

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday submitted before the Kerala High Court that no offence of corruption or loss sustained by the government was proved in a quick verification done on a complaint against ADGP Jacob Thomas.

The statement was filed in response to a petition filed by K. Sathyan, Kuthuparamba, Kannur, seeking a directive to the Vigilance to register an FIR against Mr. Jacob Thomas based on his complaint.

The petitioner pointed out that a government inspection report in 2013 against the ADGP was a conclusive one with respect to the foul play in the Department of Ports while the officer was the director of the department.

The VACB stated that the inquiry officer had recommended that there was no scope for registering a case. The petitioner alleged that there was corruption in the purchase of various equipment and furniture made during Mr. Jacob Thomas’ stint as the Director of Ports.
