E. Sreedharan, the Principal Advisor to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, said his physical presence was not needed for the time-bound completion of the metro rail project in Kochi as works on the project was moving at a satisfactory pace.

“Now that the work has achieved the required momentum, it will go on automatically. The DMRC has deployed a team of competent engineers and my physical presence is no more a requirement here. Even now, I have been visiting here only once in ten days,” he told reporters here on Wednesday during a site visit to the metro rail project. The comment was made when reporters drew his attention towards the possibility of him taking up a new post under the new government at the Centre.

Mr. Sreedharan, however, refused to comment on taking up any new responsibility in Delhi. The other day he had also denied reports that Mr. Modi had made proposal to make him the Railway Minister.

During the visit, which started around 8 in the morning, he inspected the metro rail alignment from Aluva till Ernakulam North ROB and also took stock of the situations at the Metro yard in Muttom.
