A job well done has earned Kudumbasree mission more work.

Impressed by the performance of Kudumbasree workers in cleaning trains, Railways has entrusted them with the additional responsibility of three more trains reaching Ernakulam Junction. This takes the number of trains under Kudumbasree workers to five.

Kudumbasree workers will be at the station on all days except Thursdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Kudumbasree was entrusted with cleaning the coaches of Mangala-Lakshadweep and Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Express trains on a trial basis from February 23. Railways had promised to assign more jobs to Kudumbasree if their performance was found satisfying.

District collector said the Railways has now asked whether Kudumbasree is willing to take up the cleaning of three more trains reaching Ernakulam Junction. The trains include Patna and Millennium Express trains. Kudumbasree workers will be paid Rs. 150 for each bogie.
