Landowners, who will be giving up full or part of their possessions for the Kochi Metro Rail project have expressed concern over what they described as a lack of clarity on several issues, including the time-frame for the payment of the entire lot of money promised by the district administration.

A statement issued on Sunday, by the owners of land on MG Road, Banerjee Road and Railway Station Road, requested the District Collector to clarify the issues and to make the takeover of land smooth and prompt.

The land owners have also sought clarification on the issue of responsibility for demolition of buildings on the property acquired for the Metro Rail project.

The land owners wanted an assurance that the full amount of money would be paid to them before the acquisition of land and demolition of buildings.

It was earlier assured that once the owners expressed their willingness to give up their possessions in writing, their payments would be made promptly. However, there has been no move to pay those who have already expressed their willingness.
