A native of Thrissur, Clins Varghese, was arrested by the Nedumbassery police, near Kochi, on Monday after he was found shooting a video claiming that the airplane on which he was about to travel to Mumbai would be hijacked.

The incident occurred around 12.05 p. m. while a Jet Airways flight bound for Mumbai was being readied to leave Kochi from the Nedumbassery international airport. Mr. Varghese was also booked on the flight but was found shooting the video on his mobile phone threatening a hijack.

He apparently sent the hijack message to his friends in the flight and the security personnel apprehended him. Passengers were then evacuated and the plane checked for any threat. The flight finally left around 1.45 p. m., airport sources said.

The arrested person is being questioned by the police.
