Kudumbasree now boasts a newspaper of its own.

Kudumbasree members have joined hands to bring out a paper titled “Frame Shree Voice,’ which was released at a function here by Kudumbasree executive director in-charge N.K. Jaya on Saturday.

The paper featured news items of social relevance. Kudumbasree members had reported, edited and done the layout of the paper for which they were given training.

The paper has about 140 members working for it from across the State after 10 members each were selected from all 14 districts through a written test. Most of them had only read newspapers and had little previous experience in journalism.

They were taught basic lessons of journalism from reporting to editing through classroom sessions after which they were asked to file five reports each on issues of social relevance from their respective areas. The first issue of the paper carried selected reports from the ones they filed. The documentary ‘ Makal ,’ on human trafficking shot by the Kudumbasree Idukki district mission was also released on the occasion. The cast and crew of the documentary are all women. Meanwhile, Kudumbasree is also actively working on a channel. The preliminary works, including training for the members have already been started.
