Kochi to take up ‘smart’ challenge

July 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kochi Corporation moved its application for participating in the city challenge round of the smart city programme of the Central government.

After fulfilling all the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Ministry and getting the documents vetted by a consultant, the application was formally submitted to the Chief Secretary of Kerala.

The performance audit wing of the State government too scrutinised the proposal and issued the compliance certificate, said V.R. Raju, secretary of the Kochi Corporation.

The Ministry had suggested setting up of a complaint redressal facility, vision document, and development strategy document as the basic criteria for the cities to qualify for the centrally supported project.

“The State government will forward Kochi’s application to the Centre,” Mr. Raju said here.
