After launching a website for mobilising public support for involving Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in Kochi metro project, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany is using his Facebook account for giving a leverage for the campaign.
The Mayor has linked the campaign to his social media account www.facebook.com/mayorkochi to take the campaign further into the cyber world.
To quote his latest post verbatim, Mr. Chammany said the “Government of Kerala and the Kochi Corporation along with the people of Kerala unanimously want the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to take up the work of Kochi metro which will be crucial to the growth and development of Cochin City.”
The “DMRC under the guidance of the Metro Man of India, E Sreedharan, have proved their calibre in all works taken up by them and are most sought after by the people and the Government of Kerala for taking up this dream project,” posted Mr. Chammany.
The website www.supportkochimetro.in had evoked good response and around 1,600 people visited the site by Friday evening, Mr. Chammany said. The civic administrator was hoping to showcase the support the campaign would garner from the cyber world to convince the authorities that the work should be awarded to the public sector company.
