District Collector M. Beena on Thursday visited sensitive polling booths in city police limits ahead of the election to the local self-government bodies on October 25.
About 125 booths have been identified as sensitive in this region. The Collector, who is also the District Election Officer, first visited the Governement HS at Panampilly Nagar.
The official, accompanied by top police officials in the district, also visited Government Fisheries School at Thevara, Mangayil VHSS at Maradu, Devi Vilasom LPS, SNDP LPS at Irumpanam and Traco cable company recreation hall. The team visited nearly 30 booths including those in Thrikkakara.
As many as 442 booths in the district have been identified as sensitive. Of this 317 were under the jurisdiction of the Rural Superintendent of Police.
Based on law and order issues and accessibility, the sensitive booths had been further categorised into vulnerable and inaccessible.
Four polling booths had been identified as inaccessible ones in the district. Seven booths at Nedumbassery, 12 at Vadakkekara, 16 at Kothamangalam, 20 at Puthencruz, 23 at Piravom, 26 at Kuruppumpady, 22 at Kalady, 33 at North Paravur, 34 at Aluva, 12 at Muvattupuzha, 26 at Angamaly, 32 at Njarakkal, 28 at Perumbavur, and 21 booths at Kunnathunadu have been identified as sensitive.
Nearly 75 materials will be distributed to the polling officials through 26 centres in Ernakulam district from 8 a.m. onwards on Sunday. There will be 14 distribution centres in the three-tier panchayat level, 11 in municipalities and one in the corporation.
