Kerala HC asks Sai Nikethan trust for presence of boy

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed Sai Nikethan Trust Director to produce Vasudev, an inmate of its children's home before the court on December 6 to enable it to seek boy’s views on the claims made by a person that he was his missing son and about his willingness for a DNA test.

The order came on a petition filed by Jaleel Hassankuty of Kanjirappally, Kottayam. He claimed that Vasudev, the inmate of the home run by the Sai Nikethan trust was his son who went missing 16 years ago. He came across the picture of Vasudev published in a newspaper. He sought to conduct DNA test on an inmate of the home who resembled his missing son.

The trust authorities and the police had not taken any action on his request to ascertain the paternity of Vasudev. His two-and-a-half-year-old son went missing from his house on September 20, 1996.

The court had earlier asked the petitioner to implead the social welfare department and the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for biotechnology in the case.
