HC stays suspension of committee

April 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday stayed the order of the joint registrar of co-operative societies suspending the managing committee of the Ernakulam Indira Gandhi Co-Operative Hospital Society for three weeks.

Justice V. Chitambaresh also ordered restoration of the elected board of directors of the society to office forthwith.

The court also restrained the administrator from interfering with the working of the Cochin Co-operative Hospital Society, which controls the Indira Gandhi Co-Operative hospital. The interim order came on a petition filed by P.C. Cherian and Manu Jacob, president and secretary respectively of the society challenging the suspension order. The court observed that the inquiry under section 65 of the Co-Operative Societies Act could continue without any impediment.
