Five held on robbery charge

The Kochi city police on Tuesday arrested five persons, including a woman, on charges of robbery.

The accused have been identified as Godly Dev, 40, Prince KI, 27, Tom Koshy, 36, Subin John Varghese, 22 and Seema, 36.

As per the case, the accused had honey-trapped a Mulanthuruthy native through an online advertisement for selling old furniture.

“The victim got in touch with Seema, wife of Tom Koshy, using the phone number given along with the advertisement and the woman invited him to her home on March 21 near Kathrikadavu. On his arrival, he was attacked by the other four accused and robbed of Rs.6,500, three ATM cards and driving licence from his wallet,” officials said. The accused also took away the ownership documents of his car and forced him to sign an agreement of Rs.1.75 lakh. Using his ATM card, the accused also withdrew another 2,500 rupees from the victim’s bank account.

Based on a complaint, the accused were arrested on Tuesday and produced in a local court.
