The e-waste collection drive organised by the Kochi Corporation at Vaduthala on Tuesday failed to evoke good response. Though the programme was organised on a request from three councillors of the region, it succeeded in collecting only around 100 kg, which was below than expected, said V.K. Minimol, chairperson of the Health Standing Committee of the Kochi Corporation.

On Wednesday, a collection camp has been organised at the Giri Nagar Community hall. The collection from the division will be monitored before going ahead with the programme. If the response is poor, the collection camps will be temporarily called off to be resumed after the Assembly polls, she said.

The civic authorities believe that the lack of adequate publicity might have resulted in the poor response. The programmes would be revived after giving proper publicity so that people would bring in the refuse, she said.
