Dredger rams bridge in Kochi

Hits a pillar of Venduruthy bridge

April 05, 2018 07:52 am | Updated 07:26 pm IST - Kochi

A dredger reportedly rammed the new Venduruthy bridge on Wednesday. However, none of the authorities in the area, the Cochin Port Trust, the Navy or the local police could make a comment on what happened or how the accident occurred.

It was learnt from the people in the area that the dredger had floated towards the bridge on the northern side and it hit a pillar of the bridge.

Many onlookers were seen witnessing the accident from the bridge at that time. While some said loss of control over the dredger had led to the incident, others said it had floated in high tide.
