The Fisheries Department is collecting comprehensive details of fishing vessels and fishers.
Data collection, done with the support of fishers’ organisations, cooperatives and boat owners’ associations, envisages information on workers, including their address and Aadhaar numbers, biometric card numbers, fishing village, mobile numbers, life saving equipment on boat, and communication equipment. Owners of boats must furnish the details in prescribed form at Matsyabhavans, fishers’ station, Vypeen, or the Deputy Director’s office before January 17.
