: Crew and officers of MV Kavaratti and MV Corals, which brought back Indian, Bangladeshi and Yemeni citizens from war-hit Yemen on Saturday to Kochi were felicitated by the Cochin Port Trust authorities at a function on Tuesday.

The officers and crew were praised for their trip between March 30 and April 18, which successfully evacuated the people there. The master and crew of the ships displayed “high degree of professionalism and courage”, a press release said. It said the ships’ officers and crew deserved “special mention considering that the vessels, which were normally on coastal voyage willingly undertook a perilous mission into the piracy infested and war-torn area of the Gulf of Aden at a short notice”. The officers of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep Administration were also commended for their support.
