Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district secretary P. Rajeev on Monday said the party in the district had devised plans to offer membership to young Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists with a view to having more young blood on board.

Responding to a query as to why despite colleges having numerous SFI activists only a few make it to the party at a meet the press programme at Ernakulam Press Club, he said the party was so far a little hesitant to take SFI activists, as it wanted them to be mature before taking them along. That would change now, he said.

Wish list submitted

A wish list for all the 14 Assembly segments in the district had already been submitted for incorporation in the forthcoming budget .

Mr. Rajeev said all issues taken up by the party regarding the waste treatment plant at Brahmapuram had been addressed, but the party would continue to intervene in the issue as and when required.
