Corporation plea on encroachers

The Corporation has decided to seek an year's time for preparing a proper rehabilitation package for seven families to be evicted from Konam in Palluruthy. It asked the Corporation secretary to seek support from outside agencies.

This was decided at the special council meeting held here on Saturday. The High Court had ordered for removing the seven families, after it was found that they encroached on public land. However, the council has made a request that the eviction be halted till a proper rehabilitation plan is drawn.

Ajith Patil, Corporation secretary, said the regional manager of HUDCO would be coming to the Corporation for official discussions and the possibility of availing of loan for rehabilitation project could be discussed then.

C.K. Manisankar, Deputy Mayor and councillors K.R. Premakumar, P.S. Viju, K.C. Hyacinth, K.J. Antony and C.K. Gopalan participated in the discussions.
