Collector to reach out to first-time voters

Fence sitters among the first-time voters who are as yet undecided whether to cast their maiden vote or not would soon find a high value perusal at their doorstep.

No less than the Ernakulam District Collector, who is also the District Election Officer, is preparing to write to 56,000 first-time voters in the district requesting them not to waste their valid franchise.

District Collector M.G. Rajamanickam would send out letters as part of the initiative undertaken by the district election wing under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).

The Collector disclosed his plan while inaugurating an interaction with the students of Kerala Media Academy organised as part of SVEEP.

Though Kerala is in the forefront in literacy and technical fields, it lags behind when it comes to voter turnout.
