CM to flag off first Haj flight on Aug 13

Panel reviews Haj camp preparations

Kerala Haj Committee chairman Thodiyoor Muhammed Kunju Moulavi chaired a meeting here on Tuesday to review the preparations for the 2017 Haj camp.

The meeting was held at the conference hall of Cochin International Airport Limited, Nedumbassery.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Haj Committee executive officer and Malappuram District Collector Amit Meena, said a press release issued here.

First flight

The Haj camp will open on August 12, and the first flight will be on August 13. It will be flagged off by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Haj flights will be operated by Saudi Airlines.

The camp will be at the aircraft maintenance hangar attached to the international airport.

There will be prayer rooms, canteen, bathrooms and other facilities. There will also be sufficient parking space for vehicles near the Haj camp.

Boarding passes for pilgrims will be provided at the camp itself. Baggages will be collected at the camp after their screening. There will be three services daily during the camp period. The final schedule is expected within two days.

Bus service

There will also be KURTC low-floor bus services to the Haj camp from places such as Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur, Kalpetta and Ponnani. All trains will have stop at Aluva.
