A riot of colours greeted people as they reached Maharaja’s College ground in the city on Friday to take part in Holi celebrations. With a sizeable population of North Indians residing in the city and suburbs, the colours of Holi have spread across the city and beyond.

“The celebration was restricted to small groups earlier, but more and more people are now celebrating festivals such as Holi,” said N. L. Mittal, a businessman who has been living in the city for nearly 25 years.

Holi was also celebrated in areas such as West Kochi and the Naval Enclave.

People associated with the North Indian Association celebrated the festival at an open ground in Udaya Nagar in the city.
