: The Class XII examinations for CBSE students were held peacefully in various schools across the district amid tension that the dawn-to-dusk hartal may affect the smooth conduct of the crucial exam.

No untoward incident related to the conduct of the examination was reported from anywhere in Ernakulam, said Indira Rajan, general secretary of the Kerala CBSE School Management Association.

Several parents took their children in two-wheelers while deciding not to send them in school buses fearing stone pelting or some other untoward incident in connection with the hartal. Ms. Rajan said that school buses operated without any problems and the crew brought the students safe to the campuses.

Representatives of the association pointed out that they were now used to hartals during the examination time. But the students go through a tough phase when political parties declare hartals on exam days, said Ms. Rajan.
