Akarsh’s friends were able to swim to safety but were unable to rescue their friend. The Kodanad police have sought the help of the fire force and naval divers in the search for the boy.

The police have issued an advisory to the residents of the area to keep away from water bodies during the monsoon season as the heavy rain has caused strong currents which could easily drift away swimmers.
