Bio-bins at Maradu panchayat inaugurated

Decentralised waste management processing in panchayat areas through bio-bins was inaugurated on Friday at Maradu panchayat by P. Rajeev, MP.

In a programme organised by the Clean Kochi movement, the social project of the Kochi branch of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India, the bio-bins method was adopted by one of the residents' association in Maradu.

Kudumbasree units in the area would be leading the project.

Dinesh Mani, MLA, presided over the function organised on the occasion. K. Devassy, president, Maradu Panchayat, spoke.

The bio-bins method would soon be adopted by a few more panchayats and a municipality, said Kabeer Haroon, the project director of Clean Kochi.

Thiruvamkulam panchayat and Kalamassery municipality are also likely to adopt these measures of waste management.
