ASI chief visits heritage monuments

The Director-General of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) Gautam Sengupta visited the Tirunayathodu temple, Angamaly, and a few heritage monuments in West Kochi on Sunday.

He was accompanied by the Adviser to the Prime Minister, T. K. A. Nair, when he visited the temple. They inspected the temple, which is protected by the State government's heritage preservation wing.

In West Kochi, Mr. Sengupta and a few officials from the ASI visited the St. Francis Church in Fort Kochi, where the agency is carrying out restoration work. “The work is nearing completion,” said Dr. Nambiraj, superintending archaeologist of the agency. In Mattancherry, Mr. Sengupta visited the ASI-maintained Dutch Palace and a few art galleries.
