As the curtains came down on the four-day revenue district school festival at Muvattupuzha on Thursday, Aluva sub-district emerged victorious in the high school and higher secondary school categories while North Paravur walked away with the laurels in the upper primary category.
Aluva stood tall on the podium with 362 points in the high school category, a clear 31 points ahead of North Paravur, which ended up with 331 points. Ernakulam came third with 301 points.
Aluva repeated the tale in the higher secondary category as it managed 406 points with the immediate challengers North Paravur ending up with 391 points and Ernakulam emerging third with 379 points.
However, Aluva sub-district with 137 points fell short of the pole position in the upper primary category as North Paravur edged past with 148 points with Mattancherry sub-district ending a close third with 135 points.
Joseph Vazhakkan, MLA, gave away the trophies to winners.
The fest evoked mixed response with some events attracting huge crowds while some other getting staged in front of sparse crowd. The quality of the performance was relatively high going by the large number of A grades.
The fest attracted its share of problems with contestants and their parents challenging the decision of judges in some events.
