Malayali actor Leena Maria Paul, who was arrested in Delhi on Tuesday, has been accused of cheating a Chennai bank of Rs.19 crore. It has now come to light that her partner Chandrasekar alias Sekar Reddy, now absconding, had another cheating case registered against him at Kalamassery police station.
The complaint against Sekar was registered by a prominent clothing store in the State. The store filed a complaint in April 2012 saying Sekar had taken Rs.20 lakh from them after promising to arrange actor Katrina Kaif to inaugurate the company’s new showroom in Kottayam. “He had arranged actors for the same company for similar functions. So the company gave him the amount as advance and he made away with it,” said a police officer.
Leena, who has acted in Red Chillies, Cobra, and Husbands in Goa, knew Sekar as he regularly arranged actors for various events. Sekar allegedly pretended to be an IAS officer and got Rs.19 crore from the Chennai bank saying he needed it for a large project. Nine luxury cars were also seized from the South Delhi farmhouse where the duo was staying.
