Women’s organisations affiliated to the Left movement, on Wednesday, protested the rape and murder of a Dalit law student at Perumbavoor.

A large gathering witnessed, with moist eyes, the performance of a street play in which the gruesome incident was portrayed, unravelling the plight of hapless women in the State.

Veteran actor K.P.A.C. Lalitha gave a call for maximum punishment to the aggressors.

Actors Manju Pillai and Sajitha Madathil and poet and lyricist M.R. Jayageetha spoke of the fear that has come over women with such incidents being reported with alarming regularity in different parts of Kerala.

CPI(M) district secretary P. Rajeev also spoke.

Banner painting was done by artists at the venue.
