A mini lorry and a private bus collided at Pallathupady on the Kakkanad-Veegaland route injuring about 15 persons, mostly passengers in the bus, at 7.50 a.m. The accident occurred when the driver of the mini lorry, in his attempt to avoid a gutter, lost control of the vehicle and it rammed a bus coming from the opposite direction.

The bus was on its way to Ernakulam from Muvattupuzha. The Edappally traffic police said that the injuries were not serious.

In the second accident, involving a private bus and a car, occurred near the Champakkara market on the Vytilla-Pettah Road around 4.10 p.m. According to Tripunithura police, two persons each in the car and bus suffered minor injuries.

The bus was on its way to Ernakulam from Tripunithura. According to eye witness accounts, the bus hit the car that was trying to overtake another vehicle. The bus then veered off the road and crashed into buildings and a tree. Traffic was disrupted here for more than an hour.
