20 cases of suspected hepatitis A reported

As many as 20 cases of suspected hepatitis A were reported from the Corporation area on Tuesday. The health authorities in the Corporation would be alerted for further action, said R. Sudhakaran, District Medical Officer.

Two suspected cases of hepatitis A were reported from Mulanthuruthy and one each from Thrikkakara, Vengoor, Piravom, Nayarambalam and Thirumarady.

One case each of confirmed hepatitis A was reported from Udayamperoor, Corporation area, Mulanthuruthy, Pallippuram and Paravur.

The district health authorities will visit Choornikkara from where five cases of typhoid were reported on Tuesday. Two cases of chicken pox, three cases of malaria and one case of dengue fever were reported.

One case each of suspected dengue fever and suspected leptospirosis were reported.

Probe report

The DMO said that the report of an inquiry conducted at Kothamangalam government hospital based on complaints of patients that doctors were promoting private practice had been sent to the Director of Health Services for further action.
