Fourteen companies will start full-scale operations at the Information Technology Park at Koratty, being developed by Infopark, this month.
With this the allocation of the entire built-up space of 42,000 sq ft in the first phase of the park will be completed. In fact, the Koratty Park has already started allocation of space for 10 companies for the second phase.
The companies that will have set shop at the park by the end of this month includes Bluelabs Technology Solutions, Braddock Infotech, Cent Technologies, Infoprism Solutions, Sahradaya tech, Glitz IT Solutions, Sands Lab, Exar Software Research, Strands Energy Private Limited, Greened Multimedia, Storybox, Igooz Technologies Private Limited, Finelab Webservices Private Limited and Abyss Technologies. The park will employ almost 500 professionals by the time the first phase is fully operational.
Strategic location
“Many MNCs are showing interest in Koratty for their future expansions, because of the low operational cost, availability of good talent and ease of access through all modes of transport,” said Infopark CEO, Siddhartha Bhattacharya.
Ever since its inception in October last year, the Koratty IT Park has fuelled commercial development in and around its surroundings. Strategic location, close to the Cochin International Airport Limited at Nedumbassery; easy accessibility both from Kochi and Thrissur; excellent data connectivity; and a heartening green working environment are its major attractions. The work on the four-lane road connecting Kochi and Thrissur is almost complete and would considerably reduce the travelling time between the two destinations.
“Entrepreneurs are now confident of starting new ventures in Kerala because of the single window clearance and hassle-free procedures of the park. The park is also promoting entrepreneurs by providing world-class facilities at low rentals,” said Ajay Kumar, State IT Principal Secretary.
Various companies
The park now boasts of housing companies from all sectors, including software development, animation and multimedia, web designing, BPOs, IT finishing schools and so on. Training institutes are also being set up inside the campus to train engineering graduates and employees on the latest trends and applications in IT/ITES and to facilitate direct recruitment by companies from among the students trained at the institutes, thus reducing training and hiring cost.
The third phase of development of the park will also be thrown open to private builders in the State and when completed will create about 6,000 IT job opportunities.
Second phase
The second phase development of the park on 30 acres will have buildings with a built-up space of about 70, 000 sq. ft. complete with plug and play facilities. Other amenities such as ATMs, food courts, health centre and so on will also be available.
In keeping with its green environment, the buildings at Koratty IT park have been named after trees like ‘Gulmohar', ‘Rajamalli', ‘Chandanam', ‘Mandaram', ‘Ashokam', ‘Devatharam' to name a few.
“We see Koratty as having the highest potential to explore the new concepts of Rural IT and BPOs in Kerala. The strategic location of the park is a major attraction for companies that are looking at setting up operations and this has prompted us to look towards acquiring additional land for the expansion of the park and to get SEZ status for this shortly,” said Mr. Bhattacharya.
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had inaugurated the Koratty Park on October 10, 2009 .
