Two men, who tried to kidnap a three-year-old girl at a mosque near the Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund, were caught by two youngsters and Special Protection Force personnel on duty at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
The woman, along with her relative, was standing at the mosque while her daughter stood a few feet away when the duo picked up the girl and began moving away.
Seeing this, the girl’s mother raised an alarm. The duo abandoned the girl a few yards away before fleeing.
Anjaneyulu and Satish, both from Karimnagar district, who came to visit Lumbini Park, saw the woman chasing the two men. They, too, ran after them.
SPF joins chase
The SPF personnel on duty at the Secretariat main gate also followed the kidnappers.
“The two men were caught and are being interrogated,” Saifabad Inspector V. Umender said.
