A one-day workshop on endoscopy ultrasound was conducted at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here on Sunday. Close to 80 gastroenterologists participated in the workshop where experts discussed the challenges and potential solutions in endoscopic management of gastrointestinal disorders.
“Endoscopic ultrasound is gradually becoming a standard of care in the management of benign and malignant gastrointestinal disorders. It has become imperative to be aware and up-to-date about endoscopy ultrasound in modern day practice of gastroenterology,” said course director and Hepatologist Sharath Putta, in a press release.
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is useful for early and accurate diagnosis of gastric, pancreatic, biliary diseases and cancer, doctors said. The EUS can also be used as a treatment tool like removing fluid collections around pancreas without surgery. “The workshop was aimed at spreading awareness among doctors about various applications of EUS,” Dr. Sharath said.
