A 30-year-old woman posted an image of hers to her husband in Saudi Arabia in which she is seen with a saree around her neck as a noose prior to taking the extreme step late on Wednesday.

The police said victim Arshiya Begum resorted to suicide around 11.30 p.m. in her house at West Chandranagar under Rein Bazar police limits.

“She committed suicide allegedly due to physical and mental harassment by her in-laws,” said Mohammed Abdul Javed, Rein Bazar Inspector.

The police said Arshiya got married to Mohammed Mustafa five years ago and 10 months ago he went to Saudi Arabia to work as a car driver.

“Before resorting to the extreme step, she clicked a selfie and posted it to her husband through a messenger App,” he said.

In the complaint, the victim’s parents also mentioned that Arshiya’s in-laws were also harassing her for additional dowry.

The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital morgue for autospy and was handed over to family members on Thursday.

A case was registered against her in-laws and a probe is on.
