Woman leaps to death from gym as fire breaks out in Hyderabad

A woman working out in a gym died after leaping from its window as fire broke out inside near Ministers’ Road in Secunderabad on Thursday evening.

The gym was located in a three-floor building. Four others too jumped from the building the blaze engulfed it. They sustained critical wounds and were admitted to Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) for treatment.

Along with gym, a coffee house, a car décor showroom and a courier service office were also located in the same building. “We’re told fire started in the coffee house located on the first floor and soon spread to the top floors.

Panicked inmates of the complex jumped out from different floors and received serious injuries. Three fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames. As a precaution, occupants of adjacent buildings were evacuated.
