A young woman, Kajal, 22, died and her friend, Mushtaq sustained grievous injuries when they fell off their motorbike at Gandipet on Wednesday.
Both were rushed to a private hospital where Kajal died. Mushtaq is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
The duo were residents of Moosarambagh, police said.
Train runs over a man
An unidentified man, aged about 40 years, was run over by train between Yakutpura and Uppuguda railway stations on Thursday morning. The body was kept in the morgue at Osmania General Hospital.
Woman succumbsto burns
A 36-year-old woman, who suffered serious burns at her house at Yousufguda on March 18, succumbed to burns in a corporate hospital at Kanchanbagh on Thursday.
Police said the woman, Vijaya Kumari, was burnt in a kitchen accident.
Woman singer killed
A singer of an orchestra group, Kajal, 24, was killed when the bike she was sitting pillion rammed into a roadside advertising hoarding poll in Narsingi police station area, the police said on Thursday.
A resident of Moosarambagh, the singer was returning home on a bike being ridden by another member of the group Mohd.
Nishaq after they gave performance on Wednesday night when the accident occurred.
Nishaq lost control of the bike as it skidded on the road and hit the poll near Rock Garden.
They were rushed to Premier hospital in Mehdipatnam where Kajal succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.
Nishaq’s condition was critical, the police said.
Woman cop dies
A constable of A.P.S.P. first battalion, K. Vijaya Kumari, who accidentally caught fire while preparing food in her house at Yousuguda police quarters nearly a fortnight ago, died on Thursday.
She had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.
Daggers recovered
Commissioner’s Task Force (South) officials on Thursday caught two persons, Abdul Aleem Khan, 30, and Mohd. Ahmed, 29, and seized a dagger from them.
The duo was planning to commit a robbery when police caught it on a tip-off.
In another case, the TF (North) team caught Venkatesh Naik, 21, and seized five daggers from him.
He was working as labourer in a scrap shop and was caught while trying to sell the daggers, the police said.
